I’m so excited because yesterday was the first official day of Spring! I’m bummed that I missed Free Rita’s day but so pumped that the weather will finally be getting warmer! We had our hopefully last snowfall earlier this week and I took some pictures around our house. These shots are SOOC (straight out of camera).
This is the first shot I took and it’s my favorite! I switched to manual focus for this shot to really capture the snow melting.
With this next shot I was trying to capture the snow melting again with our house blurred in the background.
Once I loaded this picture on my computer and looked carefully I noticed a green haze around some branches. Can you notice it? This is called chromatic aberration. Katelyn James provides a great explanation of what chromatic aberration is here and how to remove it using some editing tricks in LightRoom. Basically it’s a fancy word for a purple or green haze that can be found when you are shooting highly detailed objects.
Here is a more obvious example of chromatic aberration. I zoomed in on the branch on the right to demonstrate the purple haze. It’s super common for detailed tree branches, detailed jewelry, checkered shirt patterns, etc. I’m glad I could finally spot an example of chromatic aberation and am excited to practice removing it once I finally get Lightroom!

Happy Spring!
